I visited a local wood mill and met Bill, a friendly guide who introduced me to his collection of stunning wood. Among the impressive pieces, I noticed a small stump covered in sawdust, its silver bark peeping through, adding to its charm.
Bill mentioned it came from a nearby fallen cedar tree. Bringing it home, I caught its woody scent, tinged with a sweetness reminiscent of earthy spices—a bit like strolling through a sunlit forest.
As I imagined its former splendor, sunlight glinting off its silver bark, I pictured it surrounded by moss and other plants.
Rather than completely covering its surfaces with moss, I aimed to capture a dance—a way to showcase the best of both the moss and the cedar. The series explores all four orientations of the cedar slabs, each revealing a different visual element.
